The Motivation
To sit down and put into words the why of this project is
extremely difficult. However, chalking the task up to ‘impossible’
and leaving it at that, is a cop-out and does nothing to move this
project forward. You may wonder then, why we are even bothering to
tell you this. The answer is simple: to warn you that our words are
inadequate; they are not even close to explaining why, but if we
don’t try…what’s the point?
To understand how those of us working on this project feel about
Pallisa, you must think of the singularly most exhilarating, joyful,
tearful, frustrating, motivating, angering, amazing, difficult and
incredible experiences you’ve ever had and then imagine all of those
happening at exactly the same time. Then imagine, in the middle of
all of that, being filled with the most uplifting and
heart-burstingly-beautiful
love you have ever been blessed to feel. This kind of emotion is so
indescribable we just had to make up a phrase in an attempt to
convey what it actually feels like.
What it all boils down to in the end, however, is love. That is the
best answer to the question why we can give you; we are doing this
because we are filled with love. Love for the people f Pallisa, love
for Uganda, love for Africa, love for the global community, love for
you, love for each other, love for humanity and all its
imperfections. And we believe that this small, unassuming
four-letter word is the most powerful tool we have to change the
world. If we act out of love, first and foremost, we are capable of
anything and everything.
